On building small, sharp tools
May 28, 2026
This is where I’ll write things down — notes on compilers, terminals, and the small, sharp tools I keep building instead of using the ones that already exist.
Why a terminal
The terminal is the most honest interface we have. There’s no chrome between
intent and effect: you type a thing, the thing happens. Everything I find myself
reaching for has that shape — phux, cyrs, this site.
A personal site should feel the same way. Not a brochure. A surface you can
operate. So the homepage is a prompt, and this is cat-able from it.
What goes here
Short pieces, mostly. The kind of thing that would otherwise rot in a notes app:
- things I learned the hard way
- decisions I want to be able to explain later
- the occasional longer argument
More soon.
